Cape Fear River

Jeff Worsdter charter the boat August 12, 2008,for some inshore fishing action, taking along his son,and one of his friends, really great bunch of men to fish with, started out catching live finger mullet, along the east bank of the Cape Fear River.just north of the dredge pond.Bait was quite plentiful, did not take to long to fill the live well, off we headed to muddy slough, the entrance to the back bay area. The bite started in the afternoon on the rising tide, first, with a double hook up of red fish, catching one of the fish and losing one right at the transom of the boat.Folks these red fish will, give the novice angler a fit on light spinning tackle. On my second stop we landed two slot size red drum, making everyone a limit of red drum.

Cape Fear River Fishing

I ended the week of July 26,2008 with,a Cape Fear Guide Grand Slam, speckle trout, red drum, and flounder,on Gary Ward's charter. I fished a creek right off the Cape Fear River,we caught several red drum, some flounder, and a large 26" speckle trout. This was this largest speckle that, had been caught on one of my charters ! I know Gary was excited about his catch, his buddies were even saying they had never seen a speckle trout that long ! I work real hard making sure my customers, are fishing in the right spots that hold good quality fish, you might not catch a giant every charter but at the end of the season you will have several charters that will have outstanding catches !

Cape Fear River

July 16,2008 fishing report from the Cape Fear Guide, this week has been of the best Red Fish bites so far this year.Red Drum are hitting the live baits hard and fast, most of the fish set the hook themselves, I have taken several young anglers in the 9 & 10 year old age group Red Fishing, and they are hooked on these fish, they are begging they dads to take them again ! Yesterdays fish were over the slot size of 18'' to 27" these were some nice Red Drum,I invite any one interested in, inshore fishing to come visit the Cape Fear Guide, and get in on some exciting Cape Fear River Red Fishing !

Cape Fear Fishing

Water temperatures have warmed up local piers in the Southport area have reported catches of king mackerel this past week. I have been catching some three to five pound black drum along the Cape Fear River, small blues are biting at the rock wall jetty at Wrightsville Beach, with some Spanish mackerel starting to show up on the nearshore artificial reefs. My new web site http://www.capefear-guide/ is on line, and is almost complete.
